Winnipeg is growing. The choices we make now will shape the city we leave for the next generation — where we live, how we get around, the services we deliver, and the opportunities we create.
Scott is focused on building a stronger, safer, more affordable Winnipeg — and this campaign is powered by people who believe in that work.
How the rebate program works
To encourage participation in local elections, the City of Winnipeg provides rebates to eligible individuals who donate to registered mayoral and council candidates. The rebate is calculated this way:
For contributions between $25 and $300, the rebate is 75% of the contribution.
For contributions between $301 and $1,000, the rebate is $225 plus 50% of the difference between the contribution and $300.
For contributions of more than $1,000, the rebate is $575 plus 33.3% of the difference between the contribution and $1,000.
A few important notes
Contributions must come from individuals. Corporations and unions cannot donate to municipal campaigns in Winnipeg.
You must be a resident of the Province of Manitoba to contribute.
All contributions over $250 to a single candidate are publicly disclosed as required by law.
Contributions of less than $25 will not receive a rebate. The maximum contribution to all candidates is $2,500 total, and the maximum rebate for any individual donor is $1,000.
After donating, you'll be mailed instructions on how to claim your City of Winnipeg rebate. Rebate claims are submitted after the election period closes.
